1. Who we are
DigTheBeard ("DTB", "we") operates a social community, marketplace, live-selling, appointment-booking and barbershop chair-rental platform for beard enthusiasts, barbers, stylists and shop owners. By creating an account or using the site you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the platform.
2. Accounts & eligibility
You must be 18+ (or 13+ with a guardian's consent) to hold an account. Keep your password private; you're responsible for activity on your account. We offer optional two-factor authentication and lock accounts after repeated failed sign-ins. New accounts acknowledge our community disclaimer at sign-up.
3. Professional licenses
Barbers, stylists and shop owners who sell products, take appointments or rent chairs must upload a valid, current state license. We may verify, reject or revoke listings at any time. Presenting a false or expired license is grounds for immediate removal.
4. Marketplace, live selling & the DTB Shop
Sellers set their own prices, shipping and pickup terms and are solely responsible for their products, descriptions, fulfilment and returns. DigTheBeard collects a platform fee (currently 10%) on sales, appointment payments and seat deposits. Payments are processed by Stripe; we never store card numbers. Paid "boosts" and sponsored placements are non-refundable once live. Items sold by the official DigTheBeard account are covered by our own return policy (30 days, unused).
5. Appointments
Booking terms (pay in full, deposit, or pay at the chair) are set by each barber. Deposits and full payments are refundable when the client cancels at least 24 hours in advance; no-shows may forfeit deposits. Disputes between clients and barbers should first be raised directly; we may assist but are not a party to the service agreement.
6. Chair rentals
Seat-rental contracts (1–12 months) are agreements between the shop owner and the renting barber. A platform fee and refundable deposit are collected via Stripe at signing. Signing digitally has the same effect as a handwritten signature.
7. Content, votes & prizes
You own what you post but grant DTB a licence to display it on the platform, in stories, highlights, the Top 10 leaderboard and promotional material. One vote per beard per month; vote manipulation disqualifies entries. Monthly Golden Beard Award prizes (gift card credit, boosts, badges) have no cash value and may change.
8. Prohibited conduct
No harassment, hate, nudity, counterfeit goods, unlicensed services, spam, scraping, or circumventing fees. We may remove content, suspend or terminate accounts at our discretion.
9. Messages & notifications
By adding a phone number or email you consent to appointment reminders, order updates and reply notifications. You can switch channels off in Account → Reminders. Message and data rates may apply.
10. Liability
The platform is provided "as is". To the fullest extent permitted by law, DTB is not liable for indirect or consequential damages, for goods or services supplied by third-party sellers or barbers, or for content posted by users. Our total liability is limited to fees you paid us in the prior 12 months.
11. Pro Terms — non-circumvention & intellectual property
These terms apply to every barber, stylist and shop owner account ("Pros") and are accepted at sign-up or when converting a personal account.
No direct contact before a contract. Barbers and shop owners who discover each other on DigTheBeard communicate only through the platform's seat-contract flow. Direct messaging between barbers and shop owners is disabled until a chair agreement has been signed and the deposit has cleared, at which point DTB releases both parties' contact details. Contacting a shop owner or barber off-platform to arrange, negotiate or move a chair, booking or deal found on DTB is a material breach.
Non-circumvention (12 months). For 12 months after any introduction made through DTB, Pros will not take chair rentals, bookings, gift cards or client relationships originating on DTB off-platform to avoid platform fees. Deposits and Pro access are forfeited on breach and DTB may recover the fees it would have earned.
Intellectual property. The DigTheBeard name, logos, designs, feature set, generated agreements, share cards, pricing guides, data and code are the property of DigTheBeard / ChicksDigTheBeard. Pros may not copy, scrape, reverse-engineer, or use them to build or assist a competing product or service, nor represent DTB features as their own. Ideas and feedback you submit may be used by DTB without compensation.
All sales final. Seat deposits, Pro subscriptions, boosts, tickets and marketplace purchases are final once paid — there are no refunds for a change of mind, so read every agreement carefully before signing. The single exception: if a shop owner cancels a signed chair agreement because the seat is already occupied, the renter's deposit is refunded in full and the shop owner is charged a $25 cancellation penalty for failing to block the chair's availability. The owner cannot list or edit chairs until the penalty is paid.
Shop rules & agreements. Shop owners set their house rules and options (utilities, products, walk-ins, keys, hours, notice, late fees) on each listing. DTB generates the chair agreement from those options; the signed agreement plus these Terms is the complete arrangement between the parties, and DTB is not a party to the rental itself.
12. Standard Chair Agreement
Every barber, stylist and shop owner accepts this Standard Chair Agreement at sign-up. It is incorporated into every chair agreement DigTheBeard generates, and the listing's options (utilities, products, walk-ins, own clients, keys, cleaning, hours, notice, late fee, house rules) fill in the specifics.
- Parties. The shop owner ("Owner") rents a chair/station to a state-licensed renter ("Renter"). DigTheBeard ("DTB") generates, records and witnesses the agreement and processes payments; DTB is not a party to the rental.
- Term & rent. The term (1–12 months) and monthly rate are as listed at signing. Rent is due monthly in advance. The listing's late fee applies after 5 days.
- Deposit. A non-refundable deposit equal to the listed amount is paid through DTB before the start date and released to the Owner less DTB's commission.
- All sales final. Once the Renter signs and pays the deposit there are no refunds or cancellations by the Renter. The Renter confirms they read the agreement before signing.
- Owner cancellation (occupied seat). If the Owner cancels because the seat is already occupied, the Renter's deposit is refunded in full and the Owner pays a $25 cancellation penalty. The Owner cannot list or edit chairs until it is paid. Three cancellations within 90 days suspend the Owner's chair listing for 30 days; DTB warns the Owner after each strike.
- License & conduct. The Renter keeps a valid state license and ID on file with DTB for the whole term, follows state board sanitation rules and the shop's house rules, and is responsible for their own clients, products and taxes unless the listing says otherwise.
- Station care & access. Cleaning duties, keys/after-hours access, utilities, back-bar products and walk-in sharing are exactly as ticked on the listing at signing.
- Ending early. Either party may end the arrangement with the notice period on the listing. Rent already paid is not refunded; the deposit is never refunded except under clause 5.
- Non-circumvention. Neither party contacts the other outside DTB before the deposit clears, nor moves this or any future chair arrangement off DTB for 12 months (see §11).
- Record & disputes. DTB keeps every version of a listing's agreement terms and the signed PDF. In a dispute, the version in effect at signing controls. Both parties agree to resolve disputes in good faith using DTB's record before any other action.
